Reconciling an Account in Quicken for Windows

Here you’ll get to know how you can reconcile your Quicken account for windows. So, stay connected until I stop writing.
Overview
One thing you should know that whenever you balance, an account, or reconcile then you compare your Quicken account records against your current bank statement and can easily resolve any differences between them. Moreover, reconciliation can be affected by the transactions that occurred in the period which is shown on your current bank statement as well as by earlier transactions.
Point to remember: Well reconciling is not known for a required process, but some users choose to reconcile their accounts to ensure consistency between their information in Quicken and what is on their bank’s statement. However, reconciling is typically done with manual accounts and then the option to reconcile an account connected to online services does exist.
Let’s understand how to reconcile:
In order to reconcile a spending account to a paper statement
Firstly, you need to open the account which you want to reconcile.
Next, go to Tools > Reconcile an Account
Now, if you have given a choice then you can select Paper Statement.
You need to verify the opening balance and enter the ending balance by using the paper statement.
After that, you need to enter the date, amount, and category information, if there is a service charge or interest earned.
Then click OK.
Also, you can check off the transactions in the window that also appear on your statement. If required then you can click the column headings to sort the transactions.
Finally, click done if the difference in the lower-right corner is zero.
To reconcile a spending account to an online balance
Here Quicken reconciles your Quicken account to the latest downloaded data when you use this method. So, just make sure you download your latest transactions and accept the transactions into your register.
Firstly, open the account you want to reconcile
Next, go to Tools > Reconcile an Account
Now, select Online Balance in the Reconcile Online Account window.
Then click OK
Finally, click Done if the difference in the lower-right corner is zero.
Auto Reconcile
In that case, where your Quicken balance matches your online balance, Quicken can automatically reconcile your transactions. And it is done simply by placing an R in the Clr column of the register. And after your downloaded transactions that are accepted in the Compare to Register window.
If you find that the balances don’t match then Quicken displays the Reconcile window to help you find the problem.
